Switchback Attack - MTB Race

March 2007
Elizabethtown , KY
posted by Wade

The Toytota Tundra Switchback Attack was held at Younger's Creek park on March 17th and 18th. I attended the XC event Sunday and it was a pretty good race. The organizers seemed to have a good handle on how to run the race at a smooth pace and move racers on and off the course. The course was muddy though, and got muddier throughout the day as the frost melted. Racers not only had to deal with the switchbacks that led up and down the hills, but also had to navigate a muddy trail.
Our member Abenson ran a good race in the sport class and got a nice bike-full of mud.

Check the race website for more details on race results.

If there are any racers as members feel free to type up a trip report on how the race went for you.

I rode out there today and it is in pretty good shape. I need to get in shape because it kicked my butt.

Congrats! You did well. I thought that's roughly where you finished and it looked like there was some good competition out there.

You summed it up pretty well. Muddy trails are almost a given this time of the year. I would say only about 15 percent of the trail was muddy, so not bad. The results aren't up yet, but I think I got 13th overall in sport out of around 40. I felt good when I saw riders coming in after me that were consistently beating me last year. Thanks for coming out and supporting.
