Perfect North Ski Trip
February 2007
KY
posted by melolympia
Finally, the snow arrived. Season after season, most that live in the Ohio Valley very seldom get to experience such a beautiful day of skiing as we did. Yeah, yeah I know this doesn't compare to Colorado or Snowshoe, but for those of us that live in KY, it was fantastic!
We arrived around early lunch time to slops filled with sunshine, smiling faces, and snowboarders getting some air time.
The conditions couldn't have been better. With a powdery top layer, we were able to ski and snowboard with ease. The weather stayed somewhere in the upper 20s with very little wind which kept us from facing a day of slushy slopes.
Watching the snowboarders hit the jumps made the day all the more exciting. Some were able to do some cool tricks and some were able to solely wipe out. Either way, they have my respect for hitting any jump.
Parts of the day consisted of hitting the run while playing dodge the skier or snowboarder who just took a faceplant. With some panther-like reflexes we were able to dodge them with ease.
All in all, the weather was fantastic and I would recommend this as a day trip if you are in the area.
