Lake Tahoe

January 2007
Truckee , CA
posted by abenson

I have been wanting to hit slopes out west for a long time now, so we decided to head out. The other couple going wih us had just got back from Denver, so we decided on Lake Tahoe. For those who haven't been, you must see this place. We stayed in Truckee, CA near the Northstar Resort which is the top part of the lake. We spent one night session and one full day at Squaw, site of the 1960 Olympics as well as the movie "hotdog" and one full day at Northstar. For a rest day we drove the entire Lake Tahoe Basin and Donner Pass. The only thing we didn't do is a day hike. I wasn't thinking when I planned it and didn't think about needing snowshoes. I will probably go back some day in the warmer months and hike as well as mountain bike. Great place to go, I couldn't believe how many resorts and small slopes there were. You could spend two weeks there and still not hit them all.
