Yosemite day hikes
August 2004
Yosemite , CA
posted by abenson
Well, I am sure everyone on here has either been or wants to go to Yosemite. It is awesome and I will go back for a backpacking trip, but my wife and I just wanted a taste since we were covering a whole lot of ground in one week out in California. We did the usual tourist spots that you can drive to and view the valley and then we picked two short hikes. One was the Taft point trail, which is across the valley from ElCapitan. It has breathtaking views of the valley and some pretty hairy fissure jumps that didn't fly well with the wife.
The second trail was Sentinel Dome. It is dome that ends up with a great view of Halfdome. It was all rock, which is a lot different than most trails I have been on, so I can imagine it would be a little slick on a rainy day, but we had beautiful California summer weather. I will probably go back with some people some day and climb Halfdome or hike some of the less traveled areas.
