Ho Chi Minh City, and surrounding regions

Vietnam is not the vacation for those who demand comfort. The food is ... bad and the air-conditioning is...nonexistent.
That being said, aside from getting there Vietnam is an extremely cheap place to travel. You can get a safe, clean room for maybe $5 U.S. per night. Some meals you can get for less than half that price.
Also, at least for people my age, there's really a lot to learn. History books all talked about World War 2 and then just stopped, leaving most people who are now in their twenties knowing almost nothing about Vietnam or Korea.
The only thing I knew before going there was what great uncles had told me that I hadn't listened to. After seeing everything I saw there, I now really want to hear their stories and to see their pictures.
