Indian Creek
March 2008
Outside Moab , UT

So.....
..After an interesting night before my flight I made it safely to Utah.
Man, I couldn't be happier.
First of, Long story short...I got SCHOOLED in Indian Creek. Hard.
Here's how it went down:
My buddy Dan decided on the first day of climbing we would hit up the Second Meat Wall. All well and good. But it has an about 30 minute approach that happens to be pretty steep and full of scree. Vanity took hold of me and I started trudging up trying my damnest to keep up with everyone. Not but 10 minutes into this excursion did my knee catch on fire...whew. I already have a bad knee and this approach just flat out made it angry...really angry.
So after making it to the base of the wall I spent a couple of hours rubbing, massaging, and tending to my knee. I finally felt up to climbing, but it didn't work so well. A combination of being half gimpy and outta shape kinda ruined my climbing for this part of the trip. I got on a couple of things, but that didn't last too long =)
But MAN! Did I have a blast...just sitting around and soaking up the beauty of the Utah desert was well worth the trip in and of itself.
Some excersise to get myself and my knee stronger and oh yes, I WILL be back.
The second day we hit up Blue Gamma. A nice short approach, but I was still not able to climb well. I got very upset for a while. But a few more glances at the landscape put most of those thoughts to the back of my head. I've been through this before, I have nothing to prove. 'Dammit Sam, just enjoy yourself' I told myself a couple...several times.
But hey, now I can say I got shut the F@&K down in Indian Creek. I think that means something.
