Trout Of A Lifetime, Again

August 2007
Nashville , TN
posted by Buster

Last weekend I went fishing and caught the “Fish Of A Lifetime”; a fat 20” brown trout. After I got home that day, I decided I wanted to write a trip report and share my success. So, I went into a story about how I began fishing and fly fishing. After reading the Trip Report, I realized that I meant to put an analogy about fly fishing and mountain climbing. The website has a “Mountain Of The Month” or “Peak Of The Week”, so I figure there are many mountain climbers on this website and this might help people see how difficult it is to catch such a large fish that has been around for years.

Well I guess I can say I made to the peak of another mountain. I went fishing today with by fishing buddy; Scott in his kayak and me in my kayak. Within the first forty-five minutes of our fishing trip, Scott landed a nice 18”/19” brown trout. The fish fought hard and tried every trick to get off the line. Scott’s brown trout went aerial 3 or 4 times and then it tried to hide in an underwater log, but eventually, Scott landed the fish. Then later on that day, I too caught a nice 18”/19” brown trout. My fish didn’t get aerial, but it did try to hide in the grass. Today’s fishing trip was crazy. If I go on a fishing trip with a friend or two, it is usually only one guy that catches a really nice fish, but this time, everyone had good day.

Today’s brown trout didn’t break a personal record, but the difference is that this trout looked completely different with dark colors and more vivid spots when compared to last week. I was recently looking on the internet about making a fiberglass replica of the 20-incher, but after today, it looks like the 18” brown is going to end up on the wall.

Enjoy the photos.
