Waverly Park

July 2006
Louisville , KY
posted by wkumtrider

Waverly Park is located in Southern Louisville and is very near the famous Waverly Hospital, well known for being haunted. The park contains a 6 mile mountian bike loop. This trail is very hilly, so if you don't like climbing, don't come here. About 85% of the time you are climbing a hill, depending on which way you ride the loop. Several of the climbs are pretty steep, especially Montana Hill. The trail is well maintained, and is mostly singletrack with some doubletrack. It is not very technical (except for the hills), and should be fine for the beginner rider. I rode here two days a week while training for the "Wild on Waverly" mountain bike race this summer. I won the beginner's class! All that riding paid off. For more information, check out www.kymba.org.

I grew up near Waverly and climbed the DEATH TUNNEL several times. We used to sleigh ride on that hill. Awesome report!
