The Osa Pennisula

June 2007

posted by liftticketscheap

I spent 4 days in the Osa Penisula using the Iguana Lodge as my home base. First, the people at the lodge were top rate, especially my bartenders Andre and Luis. The Salsa night at the resort was $5 for a feast and all the locals came and danced. These people can dance like I can ride my snowboard... beautiflly and without hesitation. Top rate. We woke up to howler monkeys and macaws every day.

The resort does a good job getting you guides for excursions. I heard no horror stories. The trip to swim with the Dolphins was top rate and Andy, the hiking/climinbg guide, was a biologist from california who decided to give it a go in Costa Rica. He knew his stuff, solid. We ate the termites (taste like pine nuts), we climbed the waterfall, we climbed the 100+ ft. vine system into the canopy to see the spider monkeys. It was all wonderful.

Go to Costa Rica, see the biodiversity, see the people who live off the grid, so much fun. Its not often you get filled with wonder.

Wonderful way to spend the off-season

Nice... sounds like I should be booking a trip for this winter when it's cold up here.
