Mt. Massive

October 2006
Leadville , CO

Okay, so this one goes out for Wade

We started off on the Colorado Trail. We did some trail work on the Mt. Massive trail for 3 days or so. I was with a group of friends whom I met at a semester program called the Rocky Mountain Semester (If anyone is an upcoming junior you definitely need to check it out. It will change your life.) On the fourth day we summited. The view was cloudy, because we hiked up in near white-out conditions which was good and bad. There was a lot of snow above timberline, so we lost the trail, but above the trees you don't really need it, but going up was awesome, because we couldn't really see more than 10 feet in front of us, but we still made it. We slid down on our butts and made it back to camp by 3 or so.

We spent the rest of the time hiking through San Isabel National Forest just going around and camping. All-in-all the trip was amazing. We had a really cool instructor when we did trail work, and if you go up the Mt. Massive trail you will see some of the water bars we made.

I highly suggest going.
