Fantastic place to rock climb if your into trad climbing. All ranges of difficulty and heights makes for a variety of options. The gunks stretches on for miles and miles so there are so many interesting routes to choose from. Only downer is that it costs $15 dollars per day per person which also includes camping. This area only offers trad climbing and most of it is multi pitches, although u can top rope the smaller cliffs but those are very very few. If you ever get a chance to go to the gunks make sure to check out the routes High Exposure and Shockley's ceiling. They are easy 5'6's but a lot of fun. There is a lot of history in this place, you will see pitons sparsley placed at every route making you appreciate the old school climbers whose lives depended on a hemp rope and the knowledge that one fall would cost them dearly.
