About Me
Like many folks in their 40's, I grew up spending most of my non-school waking hours outside. We played in the local fields, parks, and yes, even neighbor's yards. I was an Eagle Scout, and spent nearly every weekend thru the end of my college years hiking, camping, and canoeing.
I was married right after college, and with work, kids, a house, and no one to go out and play with, most of that ended.
I am now fortunate enough to be re-married to a woman who does enjoy being outside (still working on the backpacking, though) and we are determined to teach my children to appreciate the joy only found from being outside and being active. We've recently turned off and put away our primary family room television, and it has already made a difference in the kids. Our goal is to help them grow in their appreciation for what wonders our local area has to offer.
