I hate running at night!!!

posted by Wade on December 8, 2007

Winter sucks. I have to run at night or squeeze something in on my lunch break. Any tips on ways to make night running more fun and exciting...

I don't want to hear "wear all black"...

Get yourself a sexy headtorch and grab some lungfuls of darkness!

Night-XC is my winter staple. Start on trails you know well, and run with a buddy if you prefer. You'll soon be enjoying finding yourself half way uphills you didn't scare yourself away from (because you couldn't see 'em), applauded by your local wildlife (because they couldn't see you).

No gym membership required.

Yeah i know a few guys in the local running club... they are marathoners, and i'm not quite there. I'll ask them if there are any shorter distance runners around.

It is much easier to run at night if you're with a group. Our group sticks to running through neighborhoods or other areas with a good bit of light. Otherwise, try a really good headlamp and hit a trail. That will hold your interest, I promise.
