  Make verstile running mitts from old socks. Cut in half, discard the foot-bit. Pull the remaining part on like a sweatband. When it's cold, pull it down over knuckles and fingers to protect from the elements, when you warm up, fold them back into sweat bands again.

You may even find them versatile enough to provide a solution to that "long sleeve/short sleeve" dilemma in spring and fall.
