The Esbit Stove is designed to be used with chemical fuel tablets, but I don't actually use this product for its intended purpose. I do, however, usually carry a few Esbit tabs for backup. I use the closed Esbit Stove to carry my fire starting kit. Mine holds and protects two tea light candles, a lighter, waterproof matches in a tiny ziplock bag, a striker, and all the cottonballs that I can stuff into the voids. I keep my flint stick in another bag. I primarily cook with a homemade alcohol burning Pepsi can stove. The downside to that type stove is its lack of a pot stand. The Esbit Stove is the perfect size to hold the Pepsi can stove inside and support a pot of water above it. I have been using this method for four years, and it hasn't failed me yet. For any other weight conscious cooks, I think this is very good setup. I have converts a number of people while on the trail.
