I went shopping for a new pair of hiking boots a few months ago to replace my old pair that no longer fit properly. I had been wearing trail runners during all of my recent hikes, but I wanted more ankle support while hiking in the Teton Mountains. I lucked out and found these on clearance for half price. The thing that really sold me on this shoe was just how lightweight they are. They are made out of a moisture-wicking seemless material called SoftShell with a rubber sole. They also have a quick-lace system in which you just pull the cord and slide down a buckle-like contraption, leaving no loose strings to hang on tree roots or horn-shaped rocks. Salomon also produces a mid-height version of this boot.

Sweet shoe! Alot of the shoe companies are going to a quick lace system where the lace is about the size of dental floss. Crazy!
