So I was planning on canoeing today, but it was a little too chilly up in Ohio. So instead, my little sister and I decided to try out a new trail that we hadn't done yet. And I was sooo so excited and couldn't wait to try it out. It takes us a while to find the trailhead/parking but we finally did. Then, we park. We're walking like, no lie, 20 feet from the trailhead. And I wiped the hell out. I mean, fell sprawled all out on the ground. We hadn't even made it to the trail!!! We had to pack it back up and head to the lake and find the lifeguards to take care of me. I had skin hanging off my hands, rocks all stuck in my knees and a banged up elbow. It was embarassing and I'm in a bit of pain. But basically, I wanted to tell you the two super great lessons I learned by biting the dust today.

1)tie your damn shoes. I have hiking boots that I tend not to lace up all the way. That's the whole reason I fell. My loops on one boot got hooked on the hooks on the other. So....just tie your shoes up. All the way.

and 2)carry a first aid kit. I usually have something with me, but today, of all days, I didn't. And because of that, I couldn't get back out on the trail and had to pack it in. It would have taken me some time to get everything back under control, but I could have done it. The lifeguards had a great time making fun of me, but I could have taken care of it all right then and there and then gotten back up if I would have had all my own stuff.

So, while it's a funny occassion now...I was pissed at the time. Hopefully you won't make my same mistakes!!!

Yeah, funny now Kat, but I"m sure it wasn't then.

First Aid kit is a must. Sorry to hear about your accident.

I share your pain. I was play a round of disc golf a week ago and I slipped while I was throwing a drive and landed right on my back. Skinned up my elbow and hip pretty bad. My friend could not stop laughing. I had to hear about it for 12 more hole. My elbow still hurts but not as bad as my pride
