I am a fly fishing novice, but Buster (the
Outdoorzy Blog's Fly Fishing Guru)is out to fix that. We spent over an hour in my yard this past weekend practicing casting. He gave me the basics on how to get your line out, and how to cast. Boy oh boy, this is going to take some practice.
I've been invited to come up to the Hudson Valley in New York and test some of Orvis' new gear. I'm EXTREMELY excited to get the opportunity, and Buster was going to cover this event for us, but had to decline due saving vacation days for his wedding/honeymoon.
After spending that little amount of time, I'm feeling pretty good about my basic cast. I really think Buster needs to teach. He was very patient and good at making sure I understood the principles.
But... oh boy, I am going to need some practice before I get up to NY. And if I get a bite, I'm probably going to freak! But I'm pumped about the trip. And I'll take any pointers from other fly guys!

That's pretty cool that you were invited to NY. Need a traveling partner?

wow- how'd you get that hook up with orvis! Good luck and have fun on that trip. When are you going?
and gonzo- good snag on claiming any free climbing gear. I won't mind testing out a new rope, or one of those new arc'terx harnesses

You telling me the "April Fools" story... "No Man, I'm serious." Still makes me laugh.

Yeah when I told Buster he thought it was an April Fools joke.
Orvis is really hooking me up. I'll be testing all sorts of their new stuffs up there. I will also get the chance to test drive the new Saturn Vue Hybrid. I will, of course, be filling all you peeps in over on the Outdoorzy Blog and if I get to bring any swag back, we may do a cool contest to give it away.
..Unless they give me a hybrid SUV... then I might have to keep that.
