Well, Endercore had a great post on this, gatorgirl and abenson also had some great input. But Wdew23 hit on the scene with Hal Holbrook in the truck. And, pound-for-pound, that scene almost stacks up to the scene in My Girl for best tear-jerking scene. I was pulling one of those sneaky-eye-wipe motions in the theater so nobody saw me crying.
Did I just type that? Uh... I didn't cry. I had something in my eye.
Anyway, Wdew, I'm giving this one to you.
Shoot me a personal message and we'll get your prize out to you asap!
Thanks everyone for participating.

Quote: I just found this quote, and thought it applied to the whole Idea of Into the Wild
"Mountains are not Stadiums where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, they are the cathedrals where I practice my religion...I go to them as humans go to worship. From their lofty summits I view my past, dream of the future and, with an unusual acuity, am allowed to experience the present moment...my vision cleared, my strength renewed. In the mountains I celebrate creation. On each journey I am reborn."
~ The great mountaineer, Anatoli Boukreev
WOW! i wish i had seen this thread sooner. I read the book while in flight to Arizona and now i'm heading back to Alaska in a couple weeks. I cried in parts of the book because of that deep primal thread hit on in endercore's quote above and throughout McCandless's & Krakauer's journies and the one i'm currently on. I just finished reading another article discussing this whole situation in Men's Journal...
