Hey everyone...not sure if I'm in the right place on this site for this post but I'm gonna try it anyway. I'm trying to plan a trip to Iceland for this summer, ideally I'd love to go for the whole summer but probably will only be able to go for the month of August. If anyone reading this post has any insights about obtaining information on Iceland (other than the Lonely Planet guide book) can you please share it with me?
I want to do this as cheaply as possible, therefore am thinking about backpacking for most of it. I also plan to do a bit of rock climbing. If anyone has been or knows intimate info about this wonderfully amazing looking place (with awesome music) please don't hesitate to write back.
thanks so much!
(have you been outside yet today?)

I flew over Iceland on the way home from another trip last year. It looked amazing even from out the window on the plane. I immediately put it on my list of "must see places"
When I got home I did a few Google Searches and found quite a bit of information on glacier trekking, hiking, camping, etc. I'd definitely start there.

I was in Iceland last year, and loved it. The country is so amazingly varied it's really hard to answer your post, what sort of info are you looking for?
I know little about rock climbing, but if I understand correctly the stone over there is not great for climbing, not solid and the like because the country is all about lava, volcanoes and crumbling stones .
I travelled by bus with my tent, hiked a few days, and took a lot of pictures with a good camera, so I might be able to answer some question.
Starting from the weather: a warden in a hut gave me this piece of wisdom. The regular shitty weather, she told me, is rain plus wind. If one of the two is missing, they call it good weather. But when, which is quite often, the sun can make its way, it's just wow, like being in a post card.
