January 9 and 10 was spent criss-crossing Kentucky in pursuit of love.

Love of the outdoors and travel, that is. I ventured to Williamstown and Falmouth as part of my county seat project, and visited Kincaid Lake State Park on January 9. Kincaid Lake is known for its bass fishing. They play host to a lot of tournaments in the spring. I will be going back in the spring for more photos

One day later, I hiked with my friend Patrick to White Rocks and Sand Cave from the Virginia side of Cumberland Gap NHP. It was a strenuous 2-hour hike to the top, which featured a 3,000-foot-plus elevation change. The views are well worth the trouble, although the 40 MPH winds, coupled with 30-40F temperatures froze us up there

3 I tried my graduated ND-6 filter, and it turned out surprisingly well. I have a graduated fog filter, which produced okay results (see the link for an example).

5 Before we hiked to Sand Cave, which is about 35 minutes away, it was incredibly gloomy.

6 We left Sand Cave and it was clear...

8 My friend Patrick, who is now addicted to hiking.

Be sure to visit Kincaid Lake State Park and Cumberland Gap NHP for more photographs and information! Enjoy!

ha...

It became quite cloudy and more overcast later in the day, so I was standing on the docks... alone... for like 15 minutes, waiting for the perfect lighting -- so that there could be some direct light on the lake and docks. Thankfully there were few people out there who could see a nut like me by himself out there
