Hey all, I'll be looking to get a new bike sometime this spring. I'm looking for something that falls in about a $1300-1850 range. I like a hard tail, XC bike. Also, I want to go with 29s. Any suggestions on where to start looking?
Thanks Outdoorzies!

If you are sticking with a hardtail, you shouldn't have a hard time getting a killer ride for that price. If you are under 5'9" and you plan on riding mostly on tight singletrack, do some research on 29ers before getting one though. Are you asking for brands or bike shops in your area?

brands and specific models. i've ridden a Giant Iguana for a few years and just sold it. i'm 5'10" and i've tested a 29 at my normal frame length [19"] and loved it. felt wonderful.

Post a message on www.kymba.org. Quite a few guys on there ride 29ers and love to talk about them. Trek and KHS sell some that would probably fit in your price range.

The Gary Fisher Rig is a great deal for a 29'er. Great right off the rack and to see if you are into it. The Mechanical disks don't have the stopping power of hydraulic, but are so easy to maintain it makes up for it. I bought mine used, some great deals on craigs list.

Josh,
In that price range you need to check out the Redline Monocog Flight or the Orbea Lanza 29er. Depends on if you want suspension or not. The Redline is a great deal without suspension. The Orbea is a great with, but I have encountered that Rock Shox (comes on Orbea) makes a lame 29'er fork ( super speed wobbles!). Still waiting for Fox to get their program together. White Bros. has (I think) the best thing going right now as far as suspension forks go. Anyway, depending how pure you want to go - I'm backing the Redline....
