Okay, I need some help...
I'm working on a blog post for the Outdoorzy Blog and I need your expertise. I am doing a Top 10 Post-Adventure Grub Spots.
I have a few picked out already but I need more. I'll take some from the suggestions made in this thread. So hit me with your favorite place to eat after a hard day of hiking, climbing, riding, paddling, or playing. And no, I'm not going to reveal the spots I have unless one of you picks it.
*Factors I will consider when choosing...
--A good description of "why" you like this grub spot
--Proximity of this grub spot to a trailhead or "outdoorzy" location
--Quality, quantity, and cost of food
--The staff
--The look... what sets it apart.
Out of the spots that I can glean from you guys I'll pick one that really stands out. The one that posted that one will win an MSR Alpine Kitchen Set compliments of MSR.
I'm a lover, not a racer... --Wade

Hey Wade, I don't know if Canadian spots can be entered into your list but I know of two great ones here in NB.
1. One is "Adair's Wilderness Lodge" near Waterford, NB. Great spot to eat with homemade desserts, soups, and all the standards. Friendly knowledgable staff that know the area and some even do some guiding. There is on-site tenting as well as a couple of cottages. They offer a shuttle service to and from many trail heads and often serve as headquarters when S&R teams are needed. The building sits next to a pond and is on a dirt road (may be chipsealed soon though), and is a log building.
Great place.
2. The sticky bun bakery (sorry cant remember the name of the place) in Alma NB. Just outside FNP this place smells great a mile away, despite being right next to the small fishing harbour. These buns really provide a great sugar rush after coming off any of the hiking trails in FNP or coming of a great sea kayak trip on the Bay of Fundy.

Wade, Here's two to consider too. Haha, like that literary usage? Two places in the New River Gorge...
1) Cathedral Cafe; Why? They have great coffee. Their wait staff is comprised of several very cute ladies who are always very amiable, super kind and always right there when you need something. Also, they're very 'outdoorzy' type friendly with their selection of veggie and vegan dishes. They serve up some great soups, hummus and pita bread. And imagine, you've been out rock climbing, mountain biking, rafting or kayaking all day and you need a place to park and refuel; what better than a huge cathedral converted to a coffee shop/restaurant right on Main St. of Fayetteville WV?
or 2) Pies & Pints; The name answers the why. Pizza and Beer. Parking isn't great but the food and beer selection counters that issue. Also, on a nice spring or fall day, they have a porch and other outside seating [i think], not the greatest view but I personally love to sit outSiDe and down some beer and pizza after a long day of calorie burning fun. And you can basically make your own work of art with the plethora of toppings they have to offer.
Well, there's my two cents. Now I'm hungry.

Man Wade I could go on for days about my favoirite grub spots. I've got one for nearly every location i frequent.
obviously miguels pizza in the red. Cannot be beat. Best pizzia in the world, amazing topping selection, and run by a great family who are nothing but supportive to the climbing community, and the community in general. Miguel employees a staff of climbers who are always really nice. Miguels IS the outdoorzy spot in the red, so proximity is no issue, price is good, and he rarely runs out. Don't forget to admire his woodcarvings while you're there. Plus you can camp in the back for 2 bucks a night. Perfect for the dirtbag budgit. Meet up with anyone if you need a partner for the following day, or just for a ride across the county line to the beer trailer for the nights supplies. People are friendly, always willing to share beta (with a little bit of subtle spray) and good for sitting around the fire and shooting the shit. I've spent more nights at miguels than I have at my parents house the past 3 years, and I've loved every minute of it. Might i suggest that any pizza at miguels is not complete without corn or feta. Its also advised to get what ever toppings miguel has grown to be added to your pizza. Also, he is known for his pizza's but also has great omelets and sandwichs. Ever since RRO burned down miguels is a great option for breakfast.
my next selection is the ocoee dam deli. It is about 5 miles from the takeout for the middle ocoee river in TN. Its this little shack of a place with a gravel parking lot, a lovely porch, and a bunch of TV's on the inside that are constantly playing boating videos. Its awesome because they have 2 or 3 diffrent videos playing at once, and one is almost always a rafting carnage video from the ocoee, so you can sit and reminisce on getting your ass kicked in the very same hole earlier that day, or freak your self out about getting caught in this keeper hole, getting run over by a raft, and being recirculated while some stoned raft guide misses you with his throw bag 10 times before finally rescuing you. Ah and there are all kinds of pictures from many years of the river, including some from when the water isn't running. Now let me start on the food, its amazing. Good 'ole southern cooking. Depending on what time you visit i'd either reccomoned the dam breakfast #2 or #3 (depending on your budgit) or the chesseburger with sweet potato fries. The breakfast there was just the cure i needed to recover from a long night, and get ready for a full day of boating. ABOUSLUTE BEST biscuits and gravy i've ever had. And if you're just getting off the river nothing makes for a better summer afternoon/evening than sitting on the porch eating sweat potato fries and talking about the days adventures on the river. Not to mention the hamburger was amazing. Probably also the best hamburger i've ever had. Stay and talk to the other boaters before you head back to the campsite, and be sure to grab some local fruit to snack on later before you leave.
next would be the hungry bear in woodland park colorado. A great little breakfast joint in the middle of woodland park. Be ready to meet some of the most redneck/country people you never thought would live in CO. Its close to pike national forest and has amazing pancakes. Plus for another dollar or 2 you can add an omelet to your huge stack of pancakes making for a very economical meal.
Also on my list of colorado eateries would be Kays in Buena Vista. Its my traditional post collegiate peaks meal. Great greasy burgers, awesome milkshakes, and who dosn't love the outside atmosphere on a warm sunny day. "James Dean your meal is ready", a creative little way for them to call out orders. Its right in the middle of down town BV, close to the BV play hole, and near all of those 14ers. Theres nothing like coming down off the summit dreamin about that big greasy burger and shake you'll be getting. And its located in a park, whats not to love, its BV in the summer time.
the always classy "cook a pot of ramen in the parking lot" trick. When the money's low i've been forced to reduce my self to this many a times. Nothing makes you feel like more of a dirtbag when you can't afford to eat at wendys and you're sitting in the parking lot cookin a pot of 20cent ramen noodles. Just a tip, add an egg, green pepper, or mushroom to spice up the flavor. Go ahead and budget one pack of noodles for each person eating the meal. Or if you are feeling rich, grab a can of chicken fajita soup to put in as well, maybe pour a little beer in for added flavor.
I could go on for hours but think i'll stop for now. Good luck compiling your list.

ps the pies and pints shop at the New is the second best pizza i've ever had. If miguels pizzia is a 10 this pizzia was about an 8. I think it is a little pricey though and you can never find a place to park. I like the southwest chioplte chicken with a few additional toppings. But then again sometimes you have to park on the side of the road if you plan on going to miguels on a friday or saturday night during peak season.
and wade, I think you should start making a nice list of favorite camping spots.

La Hacienda right down the road from Hamilton Creek Park in Nashville. It has a laid back atmosphere and kick ass mexican food and 32oz beers for cheap. Can't beat that after a hard, tiring ride!

Hey I like the blue spruce its got a old time feel. Close to all the ski slopes, trails, the blue river, and lake dillon. It great for a nice sit down dinner, but the bar has great prices and there Colorado wings are awesome. I know the price look high but its some of the best food around. Also I guess I really like it because it is right infront of my house. www.thebluespruce.com. Outdoorzy Rocks!

K's Dairy Delight was already on my list.
As was Miguel's Pizza.
So... us Outdoorzies think alike
Okay, can anyone else give me some more to choose from. There have to be some more off-the-beaten-path places that you've visited. Alaska has to have a few good places.... What about the Northeast? I'm sure there are more in Canada, or hell, let's take this thing really international and start talking about other continents... Or maybe that's another list? What do you guys think?
