your just biased 'cause of your ties to true north.
you're right on the quality issue, i like eating there when you're the only one and they can take their time to make your pie. Wet county... true but a 10 min drive and your at the beer trailer and the nice old man with the beard is reminding you that it will be an extra 1.50 if you want to use your credit card. Its the atmosphere of the hang out/meet up place i'd have to say. Or the fact that its just become a tradition. Plus i'd honestly say that the pizza is better than the shop in the new regardless of any ties to the shops and it is for sure better than any pizza hut/dominos/papa johns. World Wide? I have no idea but I bet you could find a better shop, i've never eaten pizza anywhere but in the US.
and on the bbq note... i'd throw in Big Johns BBQ in Lafayette GA, on the way to Rock Town.
wade, i'm gettin hungry just thinkin about your list. Can't wait to read it!

not a chance, even while i worked there i ate at miguel's. we even ordered pizza from them for our adventure race. i have zero bias. i cut ties with TNO nearly a year ago now, though i'm still cool with the owner. in all honesty, i think it's just more hype about Miguel's than true quality. But, i will certainly agree that Miguel's is far beyond any 'chain' pizza place and the beer trailer is a pretty cool little shack to get the goods.

Wdew beat me to it.....Dairy Queen is the spot. There seems to be one conveniently located near the trails we frequently run. Or, do we run trails near Dairy Queens?
Where else can you have Sunday breakfast with orange vested deer hunters, a prayer group and an overweight sheriff?
I tend to go for the nutritionally balanced bacon, egg and cheese buscuit and 'Wdew' gets a Blizzard. No wonder the rest of the world hates us. Where else can you get all that?

I'm getting close on the list ladies and gents. The winner will be organizing their next backcountry meal in the grand prize. (by the way, we'll be getting bigger and better prizes for these contests in 2008. more contests too)
Stay tuned for the winner. Good beta being spilled here. I'll have to go get myself a DQ blizzard and think this over.

One more to through in the mix Wade;
Nate's Grille in Skagway Alaska. The guy who own's the place is uber-groovy. The place has a coffee shop/mom & pop greasy spoon atmosphere with constant great tunes, amazing deep fried deserts: oreos, snickers, reeses cups, twinkies...
And Nate makes by far the best fries in Skagway, maybe in the world! accompany that with his black and bleu HUGE burger and a PBR from around the corner at Moe's Frontier Bar and you've got an Alaskan delight. I've never met a nicer, more genuine restaurant owner anywhere. And there was movies, by theme, every Friday and Saturday night this summer. It was great.
mmmmm...nostalgia

At the top of Mount Hakkoda in northern Japan, there is a small cafe in the top gondola building. They serve a set course called "The Ghengis Kahn". You get a huge plate of raw meat and vegetables and you BBQ it at your table on a small gas grill. After skiing this awsome mountain it's great to eat like a Barbarian King!

When in North Conway, NH you can't beat the Flatbread Company. They have awesome flatbread pizza cooked in the wood fired oven, and they use as much organic prduce and product that they can in their food. They also have a huge selection of local micro brews. The bartenders are always quick to recommend a good drink choice and a good pie to go with it. The waitresses are pretty easy on the eyes too.

incase anyone was wondering i stocked it with:
onion powder
chili powder
oil
basil
dr. broners
salt
pepper
coffee
and a bunch of other stuff I cann't remember right now.
I also added three things that I wish it came with:
1) lighter
