If you can't take a good picture with a Nikon D40 than you have no business taking pictures you can buy them with a lens for about $400 on ebay. Also another good camera if you don't mind a small viewfinder is the Olmypus Evolt E-500 for about the same price on ebay. A refurb Canon Rebel Xt with lens is about $400 at http://www.adorama.com/. All are great cameras with great lenses but each has its own advantages.
