I was browsing my book self and saw Old Man and the Sea. I love that book, I also love Hemingway. I love Worst-Case Scenario books.

Back to "One Man's Wildness: An Alaskan Odessy" and Richard Proenneke. There is another book with more of his journal writings "More Readings From One Man's Wilderness: The Journals of Richard L. Proenneke, 1974-1980". I hope Barnes and Noble has a copy.

No Shortcuts to the Top
Ed Viesturs

He's not the best writer in the world and he jumps around a bit, but overall the book is a good tale of climbing all the 8000m peaks without supplemental oxygen.

This is one of the best books I own. You should check out "One Man’s Wilderness, An Alaskan Odyssey" By Sam Keith and Richard Proenneke.

Buster you said it. What a great book and television documentary. Mr Proenneke was a true frontiersman!

Thanks for all of the great suggestions.

I would also recommend:
Stranger in the Forest by Eric Hansen
Motoring with Mohammed by Eric Hansen
Skeletons of the Zahara by Dean King
Endurance by Alfred Lansing
Into The Wild Jon Krakauer
Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer
Deep Survival by Laurence Gonzales
