Louisville Outdoorzies,

I have recently accepted a new job offer, and will be based out of Louisville. My wife and I are not real familiar with the neighborhoods there and could use some advice. Can anyone suggest where to look for an apartment? We have 2 small kids that will be in elementary school. So, that is obviously a high priority for us. We would also like to be relatively close to parks, and downtown. We probably won’t be moving up there until our house sells, so it could be awhile… however, any suggestions are appreciated!

Anyone looking to buy a log home overlooking Lake Cumberland?

Cheers.

Hey, another outdoorzy in the ville. Since I don't know what kind of a budget your on, let me say this. If you can afford it, and you aren't looking for a quiet older part of town, check out the apartments around St. Matthews. This part of town is really expensive to buy a house in, but there are some nice apartments. I lived there for the first two years in Louisville and now I am just over a mile outside of the same neighborhood. There are other parts of town, but If you have two small children, I personally would stay out of the downtown and I-65 corridor. BTW, St. Matthews is near a couple of parks, and our biggest park (Cherokee) has nearly 10 miles of singletrack. Let us know when you get here.

Also check out the Cresent Hill area. It is close to downtown and close to Cherokee park that abenson mentioned. Lots of older homes converted into apartments. It's a nice area.

Thanks guys! Someone just today had mentioned St. Matthews/Highlands area. It'd be nice to live that close to that much singletrack. Thanks again, we'll check it out!

I'll definitely hit you up when we get up there.

Cheers.

Congrats Burkle! I'd love to buy a log cabin on lake Cumberland. But the commute to BG probably wouldn't work out.

I second the St Matthews/highlands/crescent hill suggestions. The Highland especially.
