Hey all,
Has anyone tried out hiking boots by Timberland? I recently tried a pair on and they felt great. I took a good walk around the store, including up and over seats, much to the bewilderment of the saleswoman, and felt comfortable in them. My question is has anyone put them through a multi-day hike or a couple of good day hikes? Are they durable? Do they provide long term support? What is the traction in them like?
Any info would be great thanks.

i've never owned anything but asolo boots and never plan on buying anything else... unless i want to get into ice / mountaineering. Wish I could help you more. If those timberlands don't work out, look into Asolo.

I'll second the vote for Asolos. Love mine!
But, that said, Timberlands are consider a decent, although second tier, brand of boot. But if they feel comfortable to you, then i say go for it. They're likely only to get more comfortable as you break them in, although the long term durability may be in question when you compare them to some of the better brands.
For light hikers, I love the stuff from Merrell as well btw.

I think Timberland is trying to come up in the outdoor footwear ranks. I personally like Montrail. But, like they say... if the shoe fits, wear it... Seriously, comfort is the most important thing for me. I'd say go with it if it fits.

Hey all, thanks for the input. I love Asolos and have worn through many pairs, but I was seeking something with a lower range price entry. With my son accompanying me on many hikes I now have to spread the wealth a bit further. Thanks again.

Haven't tried Timberland. How are they working.
Western Canada by the way. Maybe soon to be Edmonton.

Hi Fundyguy,
Just my opinion, but it might be a bit of 'false economy' to stray from boots you know.
I'm another fan of Asolo boots, have tried others but now always stick with Asolo as the most comfortable/durable. Also know that they suit my foot shape. So maybe if you've had ongoing good experience with one particular brand you should stick with it if you possibly can.
Trouble with trying on new unknown boots for me, is that they may feel ok in the store, but the only real test of a hiking boot is to wear them on a hike under load. So knowing Asolo work for me I stick with 'em.
Good luck with your selection anyhow.
Cheers, George

I'd have to agree with staying with what you know. I understand that it might be economical to buy a lower cost boot but my adage for this is "buy nice or buy twice." sure, if you're basically car camping or spending an easy weekend in Red River Gorge, go with something at a lower cost, Timberland seems to be at least remotely reputable from what i've seen. I've tried asolo and they seem great but just don't fit my foot type well. I'm now a Raichle wearer true and through. Expensive, but i've put many RUGGED miles on mine and they're still looking great. Best of luck. if you do go with the Timberlands, let us all know either way, how they work out for you.
