I have never been to California, and I am planning a trip to visit. I'm not sure what areas to visit. I wouldn't mind gong to LA, San Franciso, and then a cool national park or the beach.

What would you recommend for the first time visitor? I'm hoping to spend 3 to 4 days. Thanks for the advice!

I have only been once, but Yosemite was pretty darn cool.

So are you going just for vacation, or is there a work trip involved?

Taking your lady-friend with you? We can work some romantic areas into your plan as well. Flying into San Fran or LA will be the most affordable probably. Also, what time of year are you thinking?

Yeah, she will go. Looking to go in September. Would like to see the sites in the big cities and then some sites in the country. Beach would be nice too.

Yeah. Emile and I went up to Santa Ynez valley north of Santa Barbara. It is where Sideways was filmed. Instead of spending our days trying to hook up with chicks, like those guys did... we thought up Outdoorzy.com. Not a bad trip. Good wine too.

I am going out on a limb here, but if you take a week or so... I'd do the drive from San Fran to LA... and you can take your time. You could fly into one city and out of the other. On that drive, you'll see the mountains dropping right into the ocean. It's gorgeous. We have tons of members on here from California... don't be shy, hit them up for suggestions.

Here's a sampling of what you'd see on my suggested trip.

Got to orbitz... several airlines are having sales right now for the fall. Example... a flight from Louisville to San Francisco is about $300... can't beat that.
